Previous Päijänne OTY project is the base for this Päijänne LTER site. The Päijänne OTY project was founded by EU, State Provincial Office of Western Finland and several municipalities and companies. During that project we built this open environment for research and teaching. The site is based on a database where are data from Jyväsjärvi and some other lakes in Central Finland. The database is updated on daily base.

Our present partners at Lake Päijänne LTER are Finnish Environment Institute, Finnish Game and Fisheries Research Institute, Botnia, Central Finland Regional Environment Centre, City of Jyväskylä, M-real Kangas, Institute for Environmental Research, University of Helsinki and Pääkaupunkiseudun Vesi Oy.
